Level 1 – Transport of Radioactive Materials General Awareness. (1 day)

NTS will supply a hard copy of the NTS workbook to delegates.

Learning Outcomes

This training course equips participants with a General Awareness of the multimodal regulations concerning the transport of Class 7 Radioactive Materials.

The course covers a general overview of the following:

• Legal application of ADR under the UK Carriage of Dangerous Goods Regulations 2009 (as amended) – including requirements for training.
• Introduction to the safety system
• Radiation Hazards
• The classification system including Security Considerations
• Packaging and Packaging Standards
• Marking & Labelling
• Vehicle Placarding & Marking
• Loading and Handling considerations
• Emergency Response Considerations
• Key regulatory variations related to Road, Rail Sea and Air

Examination

Delegates will be required to take a 30 minute examination at the end of the course, to demonstrate the candidate has gained a general awareness of the regulations. The exam is “open-book”, which means the student can use the NTS workbook and student notes during the exam.

The exam has 12 questions, requiring 75% correct answers for a pass.
